Energy UK responds to government funding announcement for Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage projects
Responding to the announcement of government funding for a number of Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) projects, Lawrence Slade (chief executive, Energy UK), said:
“Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) will play a critical role if we are to hit the net-zero target by 2050. As our recent Future of Energy report highlighted, it’s essential that large scale trials of CCUS get under way now to enable its widespread deployment over the coming decades - so it’s good news to see innovative projects like this securing government funding and getting backing from industry.
“And - as the example of offshore wind shows - becoming a world leader in new and in-demand technologies like this can bring economic benefits to the UK through jobs, investment and exports.”
