Energy UK responds to the Committee on Climate Change's latest UK Housing report
Responding to the Committee on Climate Change's ‘UK housing: Fit for the future?’ report - published today - Energy UK's chief executive, Lawrence Slade said:
"The contribution energy efficiency measures can make to reducing bills for customers, tackling fuel poverty and cutting emissions is clear and compelling. We fully agree that it's vital the government starts treating energy efficiency in both existing and new homes as a priority.
“It makes no sense to be building homes today that which will require retrofitting in the future to meet the government’s own carbon targets – especially when the need to tackle emissions produced from heating our homes already presents such a major challenge."
