Don't be afraid to stay warm this winter
In response to the press release by Public Health England, Daniel Alchin, a spokesperson for Energy UK said:
"No one should be afraid to put their heating on this winter. Help is available, if you are worried contact your energy company or call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99. The major energy companies have all committed to never knowingly cut off a vulnerable customer. If you are worried; talk to your supplier, don’t turn off your heating.
“Energy companies will be spending hundreds of millions of pounds this winter to help customers in difficulty. This includes a guaranteed rebate of £140 on the electricity bills for over 1.4 million of the UK oldest and poorest pensioners this winter. Suppliers also offer discounts to low income and vulnerable people of working age. Other help available includes free or subsidised energy efficiency measures, access to trust funds and a priority service register for vulnerable customers.”
