Energy UK statement on Which
In response to the Which? release on energy prices, Energy UK said:
“Customers have more and more ways to take control of how much gas and electricity they use. Energy choices are simpler - with fewer tariffs making it easier to choose the deal that is best for you. Suppliers have made bills clearer and easier to understand and are speeding up switching. Smart meters also help customers see exactly what gas and electricity is being used.
“The energy industry works hard to protect consumers from changes in price. Energy prices are influenced by a number of factors including; wholesale prices, network costs and Government levies. This means four fifths of the average bill are outside of suppliers’ control. If customers are worried about their bills, we urge them to contact their supplier or call the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 for free, impartial advice.”
